Many entrepreneurs are not big fans of focusing on the tedious details or worrying about organizing the business. This is perhaps the nature of many creative minds and those that crave action in the form of launching new businesses. However, great organizational skills are critical to the success of the business.

This does not mean that you as a business owner need to micro manage or do all of the important organizational items that bore you to death and sap your energy. It does mean that you have to be aware of how organization affects your success, by knowing what needs to be done and putting the resources in place that do have an affinity and talent for paying attention to the details.

Without good organization you cannot ensure you are getting the best return on your resources. Unless you have infinite resources this means sooner or later you will run out of money and go belly up. Lack of organizational skills means loss of direction. It doesn't matter if you have the loftiest goals and a burning passion to achieve them, this will only get you so far. You must have a structure and system for ensuring that you are on the right track and are doing the things that are taking you in the right direction.

In fact without organization who can you know what is really working in your business? How can you know where you website traffic is coming from, which marketing campaigns are producing the best results and where the roadblocks are that are hindering growth and more sales? Without a well organized structure and systems that run your business efficiently how can you expect your employees to make the best use of their time and enable your organization to reach its maximum potential.

Look at the most successful corporations in the world what do they have in common. They certainly have developed systems and are organized. This is true whether it is McDonalds, Wal-mart or Berkshire Hathaway. In many cases there systems are as famous as the companies themselves and more well known that the CEOs. They call it 'building' a business for a reason. Can you imagine what issues you would have if a building crew just started constructing a home without plans and every worker just did his own thing? You probably wouldn't want to live there. The same is surely true of companies that you have tried to do business with in the past. There are no doubt at least several companies you have chosen not to do business with because they lacked organization and could not help you effectively whether it was a cell phone carrier or business vendor.

So recognize how critical organization is to your enterprise. Create systems, organize your team in an efficient structure, put the right people in place to watch the details and get on with growing your business.
